slime recipe: How To Make It ?
Description
slime recipe
Safe Slime Recipe: To make slime at home without borax, you'll need glue, baking soda, contact solution, and a bit of glitter. It's a fun and safe activity for kids.
Why Slime on Kitchn? Good question! Slime is just one of the many non-cooking projects that take place in the kitchen. Just like making pasta from scratch, creating slime is a fun way for me to engage with my kids in the kitchen.
Ingredients
Instructions
Optional: Color the Glue
Pour the glue into a medium bowl. If desired, add food coloring and glitter, stirring gently. The mixture doesn't need to be perfectly blended at this stage, as it will be mixed further once the baking soda is added.
Add the Baking Soda
Sprinkle the baking soda into the glue mixture and stir until the texture is smooth.
Add the Contact Lens Solution
Pour in 2 tablespoons of contact lens solution and stir slowly. The mixture will start to thicken and become stringy.
Mix Until a Ball Forms
Keep mixing slowly until the mixture forms a ball of slime.
Knead by Hand
Pick up the slime and knead it between your hands until smooth. If the slime feels too sticky, you can knead in an additional 1/2 tablespoon of contact lens solution as needed.
Playing with Slime!
Once mixed, the slime is ready to play with immediately, or it can be stored for future use.
Fun Variations:
- Hidden Figures: Hide small figures or toy cars in the slime and challenge your children to find them.
- Polka-Dot Slime: For a fun variation, fold 10 to 15 soft pom-poms into clear slime (skip the food coloring and glitter).
- Cut-and-Measure Slime: Provide kids with a metal or plastic ruler and child-safe scissors. See who can stretch their slime the furthest, or practice counting by cutting the slime into 10-inch pieces.
Note
Recipe Notes:
- Storage: Store the slime in an airtight container at room temperature.
- Glitter Glue Slime: If you have glitter glue, it’s a great, less messy alternative to adding loose glitter. In that case, you can skip the optional glitter mentioned above.
