Make this easy fusilli pasta with a flavorful tomato basil sauce in just 30 minutes. Perfect for a quick and tasty dinner!

Ingredients
  • 400g (14 oz) fusilli pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 800g (28 oz) canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
    Cook the fus-illi:
  1. fusilli
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fus-illi pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (7-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.

  2. Prepare the sauce:
    • As the pasta is cooking, warm some olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until it becomes aromatic.

  3. Add the tomatoes and seasonings:
    • Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Lower the heat and allow the sauce to simmer gently for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Combine pasta and sauce:
    • Add the cooked fus-illi to the sauce and toss to coat. Stir in the chopped fresh basil, and adjust seasoning if needed.

  5. Serve
