Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fus-illi pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (7-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
As the pasta is cooking, warm some olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until it becomes aromatic.
Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Lower the heat and allow the sauce to simmer gently for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
